A compilation of previously uncompiled short stories, what we have here are 8 first world war tales written in the 30s and 2 Air Police shorts from the 50s. The Air Police stories are very short affairs which both run along the lines of 'something happens', 'Biggles proclaims what the answer is', 'Biggles is proved correct a page later'. Fairly uninspiring stuff. The WWI stories however are all excellent. 'Biggles Night Out' where he takes part in a bombing raid as a gunner is of particular note, possibly due to the extra dose of reality Johns could add due to his bomber experience. 'Biggles' Exciting Night!' whilst not being a totally original WWI story puts a nice spin on a sabotage mission. 'Air Police' stories notwithstanding , a cracking collection of short stories.
